Please be sure to review letters and letter sounds with your child! Also, start or continue working on "Blast Off" words. We will begin reading groups on Monday, and we can't wait to get started teaching your child to read! You will be so surprised at how quickly it happens. It's the most exciting part of kindergarten!

First Week of School
We have had a great first week of school. We have covered school rules, looked for the gingerbread man or baby, and colored many pictures. We discussed our birthdays and even made birthday cakes out of vanilla wafers and icing. We sent the children home very tired and hopefully excited about kindergarten. The teachers are very tired and exhausted also. However, we are all very excited about our classes and what the children will be learning.
Next week we will be identifying the letters Bb and Tt and the sounds that they make. We will be learning about shapes and how they are alike and different. We will also be working on who makes rules and why they make them. The teachers will be administering the Lexia test to get a baseline of your child's capabilities. This is a test that will be administered many time throughout the year.
We hope that you have heard wonderful things about kindergarten so far!!! We want this to be a fun and exciting year for everyone!!!
